In 2002, I was part of a core team who established the Risk Group in Arab Bank Group. I was selected as part of a joint team at Central Bank of Jordan to draft Basel II regulations for Jordan. I have successfully managed multi-country risk management projects including Basel II implementation for Arab Bank Group. I have joined the Central Bank of Libya in 2008, as the country project manager for the Credit Reform Program and at the same time as a Chief Risk Officer of the newly merged national champion– Gumhouria Bank. My Islamic Banking experience started when I joined Jordan Dubai Islamic Bank. I have gained a unique experience in terms of converting the legacy Jordan Industrial Bank into a fully-fledged Islamic bank. My Islamic banking crystalised by accepting the challenge to be among the executive team to establish the first Islamic Bank in Oman. In 2014, I moved to the UAE as part of the executive team to merge Emirates Industrial Bank and Emirates Real Estate bank to create UAE’s first development bank. This bank is the largest UAE bank in terms of equity and will be the main financial anchor in UAE’s economic growth.
