When it comes to Governance, Risk Management, Compliance—GRC—organisations take a variety of approaches. Business operates in a chaotic world, even a small event can cascade, develop, and influence what ends up being a significant issue. The modern organisation needs to be agile, not just resilient. To be agile and maintain integrity in an environment of interconnected objectives, risks, resilience, and integrity requires 360° contextual awareness of risk. This session reviews the current 2023 drivers and trends impacting GRC and how organisations need to focus on agility, resilience, integrity, accountability, and engagement on risk.

Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) is a capability to reliably achieve objectives, address uncertainty, and act with integrity. However, too often business has focused on the acronym in reverse starting with the C and never really addresses the context of governance, performance, and objectives. This made GRC more of a band-aid and additional layer of bureaucracy instead of providing value to the business. This is putting the cart before the horse.

As we move to GRC 6.0 - Business Integrated GRC we are seeing GRC done in the proper context of performance, objective, strategy. This is also where GRC is more integrated into the business in its processes and systems instead of being an additional layer of oversight and bureaucracy. Business Integrated GRC adds value to the business in enabling agility, resilience, integrity, accountability, and engagement at all levels of the organisation.
